Create a new filter, and give it a
title that somehow reflects what you are doing. EG: OPTIN
For your Opt-In Rules, you must
follow this guideline:
"Email:" MUST be set to "Subject"
"Logic:" MUST be set to "="
"Keyword" can be anything you want
Set your Opt-In Redirect to
wherever you want your subscriber to go to after they have opted in.
Format must be "http://www.yoursite.com"
(no quotes)
Set your Display Name to something
that represents the product the mailing list you are sending.
For the To Name, you are going to
use an extracted Personalized Message Field, so put ~~~name~~~.
* ~~~ is what I use for my field delimiter. You can use something
else.
You can add or remove items from
the Personalized Message Fields tab. Sometimes you may want to
include more detail about your customer, such as age, gender, etc.
Extract Keywords is not used for
Opt-In forms.
Create some Newsletters and assign
them to your Opt-In filter.
Go back to the Filter you just
created, and look at the bottom right corner of the Beyond Response
console. You will notice and Opt-In HTML button and an Opt-Out
HTML button.
If you click the Opt-In Button, you will see some HTML code. Copy and
Paste that code into an HTML file and either upload it to your server,
or just double click it where you saved it. You will see that
you have an Opt-In form! You can modify this to make it look
prettier, but it is functional the way it is.
If you click the Opt-Out Button, you will see some other HTML code.
You can copy and Paste this code into your Newsletters so that your
subscribers can opt out of your email list.
Technical Note (Not in the
video)
When someone hits the Submit button
on the Opt-In form, the data that is entered into the form is actually
bounced off the Beyond Response server (www.beyondresponse.com *) and
then formatted in a way that the Beyond Response software can read it,
then forwarded to the DEFAULT EMAIL ADDRESS that you entered in the
General tab of the Server Settings.
This concept also works with the
Opt-Out HTML.
* I will be changing this so you
can bounce the emails off your servers in a future version.
